According to recent reports, Samsung and Apple appear to have come to an understanding about Samsung supplying screens for Apple's foldable devices. It is unclear at this point if this deal is for the screen of a hybrid device, just the folding iPhone, or maybe both.

As of right now, MacBook and iPhone screens are offered by Samsung Display. Thus, it would not be shocking if Apple chose to continue working together on their foldable gadgets. This makes especially sense in light of Samsung's well-established status as a pioneer in the field of foldable devices.

Still unknown, though, is the foldable iPhone's exact design. Some reports suggest that it might have a clamshell form similar to the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip, while others think it would have a bigger, tablet-like display. Apple's patents provide hints about possible outcomes, but no hard data has been verified.

According to a recent rumor from the Korean publication Alpha Biz, the foldable iPhone is now expected to appear in the first quarter of 2027, instead of late 2026 as previously predicted. The article credits supply chain difficulties and demand-related problems for the delay in the foldable phone's introduction, citing information from a source familiar with Apple's internal tactics.

The insider disclosed that several reasons, including the necessity to sufficiently prepare for the availability of flexible displays, have caused Apple to decide to delay the release of the foldable iPhone beyond its initial plan.

The launch of the foldable Apple phone has been pushed back to the first quarter of 2027 from its originally planned debut in the fourth quarter of 2026.
