Since the iPhone's 2007 launch, Apple devices' home screen layouts have mostly stayed the same, but an impending update may bring about a completely new look.

According to Bloomberg, iOS 18 will allow users to customize their home screens, despite the widespread expectation that the company will make significant announcements regarding artificial intelligence during its upcoming Worldwide Developers Conference in June.

As per Bloomberg, iPhone users will have the option to customize the color and arrangement of app icons, rather than having to use Apple's signature grid pattern. Although some users may currently organize their apps into folders, the update might let them customize the color of their home screen.

iOS 18 is expected to bring new AI-enabled emoji features, in addition to a redesigned home screen and AI-powered updates to multiple iPhone applications.

With the help of generative AI and its well-known emojis,  Apple would enable users to instantly create unique, customized emojis.

At its next conference, the tech behemoth will be playing catch-up after competitors like Google and Microsoft made big AI announcements a few weeks ago.

Dan Ives, managing director at Wedbush Securities, described it as Apple's "most anticipated event in a decade."
