The Windows 11 start menuThe Windows 11 start menu, one of the most recognizable tools of Microsoft operating systems, is set to undergo a significant upgrade. With the addition of a widgets panel, the start menu will provide users with a new level of customization and depth to their overall user experience. This change will allow users to easily activate the start menu on their computers and take advantage of the numerous customization options.

A dashboard to customize the experience

Social media experts have indicated that the start menu of PCs is about to undergo significant improvements soon. Additionally, the integration of Copilot in the customization and configuration of the system will provide users with new tools that can enhance their overall experience while using a computer, similar to the experience on mobile devices.

Widgets have become increasingly popular, especially since the rise of smartphones. They offer users the flexibility to decide whether or not to use them, where to place them, and what specific information to display. Therefore, the addition of Widgets to Home is a highly positive improvement for users.

Windows 11 is lagging behind Windows 10

Despite all the improvements being made by Windows 11 to create a more attractive ecosystem, the reality is that Windows 10 still represents almost 70% of global Windows traffic, which is almost three times the modest 26% of users who have moved to Windows 11. For this reason, Microsoft is continuing to release improvements in Windows 11 that encourage hundreds of millions of users to switch from Windows 10.

However, there is an underlying problem with having so many users on Windows 10 currently. In less than a year and a half, specifically in October 2025, support for Windows 10 will cease, or at least, it will no longer be free. This puts hundreds of millions of computers in a difficult situation where users will not be able to upgrade to Windows 11 because they do not meet the hardware requirements, even if they want to. Therefore, Microsoft's challenge to gain momentum for Windows 11 before that date is a race against time, as many users will no longer have the company's support.
